Requirements
·5 years of age or older on the date of the tournament
·Current registration and insurance with either USJI, USJF, USJA
·All competitors must show proof of registration and insurance (NO EXCEPTIONS)
· USJI and USJF membership will be available at the tournament site.

 

Entry Fees

·$25.00 for one weight category in one skill division
·$10.00 for an additional skill division (senior categories).

 

Pre-Registration

·You can pre-register by email Send can send a team list to Clark Geslin at clark.geslin@me.com until November 6th, 2017. Please include name, age, rank division, and weight.

 

Multiple Entries

Competitors may only enter one weight category per skill division.



Registration/Weigh In

·Junior:  8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
·Senior:  9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Competition
·Juniors: 10:00 a.m.
·Senior: At the conclusion of the juniors competition


REFEREE & OFFICIALS:
     All referees & table officials are asked to attend the meeting at 8:30 a.m.
     All referees will conform to the proper IJF dress code with the following exceptions:
o     A white polo shirt with dark gray slacks & black socks will be required.




METHOD OF ELIMINATION: 
     A modified double elimination system will be used.
     Round-robin & points may be used in divisions with 4 or less contestants. 

CONTEST RULES:
     All Current IJF Contest Rules will apply with the following modifications:
o     The CARE system may not be utilized.
o     Pre 2014 gi requirements will apply for non-black belt divisions
o     Chokes (shime-waza) are only allowed for competitors 13 years & older.
o     No drop knee seoinage/seoiotoshi for competitors under 13 years of age.
o     Competitors who elect to move up a division are subject to the rules of that division.
o     Arm locks (kansetsu-waza) are allowed only in the Brown and Black Belt Divisions (Must be 15 years or older).
o     Mat contest area will be 6m x 6m with a 4m safety area.

     Footwear is required at all times when not on the tatami mats!

UNIFORMS:
o     The designated "Blue" contestant may wear a blue judo gi with their grade belt or a white judo gi with a blue belt.
o     The "White" contestant will wear a white judo gi & a white belt. The white contestant may wear their grade belt if blue contestant wears a blue judo gi.
o     Blue & white belts will be provided.

Awards
·         Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Medals only awarded in contested divisions.
·         Judo gi or team warm ups are required for participation in the formal award presentation.


NOTICE: WAIVERS
All waivers, including the Warning, Waiver and Release of Liability, and Black Belt Waiver (for ALL non-black belts in senior divisions) must be properly completed and signed and must accompany the entry form to this tournament in consideration of acceptance to participate in this tournament.  Only parents or legal guardians are authorized to sign for minors, NOT COACHES. **All multiple entries must have a multiple entry form and waiver.**




THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE ANY CHANGES THAT WILL BE IN THE BEST INTEREST AND SAFETY OF THE COMPETITORS.






AGE & WEIGHT DIVISIONS:
     All contestants will be grouped in divisions according to their age, weight & rank.
     Excessive weight players may be moved up an age division with the consent of their coach & parents.
     All contestant must compete in their own age/weight division prior to competing in another higher division.
     Senior Divisions:  Brown belt division players must be 3 kyu rank or higher.
     Black belt division players must be 2 kyu rank or higher.

            9-10 years old                         3-minute matches       
11-12 years old                       3-minute matches       

Intermediates: M / F
            13-14 years old                       3-minute matches
            15-16 years old                       3-minute matches

Seniors: (17+ years old) M / F         
            White Belt                               3-minute matches
            *Brown Belt                           4-minute matches
*Black Belt                             4-minute matches
                       
            Masters (30+ years old) 3-minute matches
                        (if we have enough entries we will have an over 30 male division)

            *May be combined depending on # of entries.

·Take I-15 Exit 69 (Clark Street Exit) and head west.  Turn left onto 15th street at the stoplight.  Reed Gymnasium is at the T-intersection of 15th and Terry Street.

In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way, including travel to and from, the Idaho State University 50th Anniversary Taikai, and related events and activities of United States Judo, Inc., United States Judo Federation, United States Judo Association, Idaho State University, Idaho Judo, Inc., Idaho State University Judo Club, Blackrock Judo Club, Pocatello Judo Club, Southeastern Idaho Judo Institute, I hereby:

1. Acknowledge that I am familiar with the sport of Judo and understand the rules governing the sport of Judo.
2. Agree that prior to participating, I will inspect the mats, equipment, facilities, competition pools or divisions and the elimination or scoring system to be used, and if I believe anything is unsafe or beyond my capability, I will immediately advise my coach, supervisor, and/or a tournament official of such conditions and refuse to participate.

Acknowledge and fully understand that I will be engaging in a contact sport that might result in serious injury, including permanent disability or death, and severe social and economic losses due to not only my own actions, inactions, or negligence, but also to the actions, inactions, or negligence of others, the rules of the sport of Judo, or conditions of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, I acknowledge that there may be other risks not known to me or not reasonably foreseeable at this time.
4. Knowing the risks involved in the sport of Judo, I assume all such risks and accept personal responsibility for the damages following such injury, permanent disability, or death.
5. Release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue the United States Judo, Inc. United States Judo Federation, United States Judo Association, Idaho Judo, Inc., Idaho State University, Idaho State University Judo Club, Blackrock Judo Club, together with their affiliated clubs, their respective administrators, directors, agents, coaches and other employees or volunteers of the organization, event officials, medical personnel, other participants, their parents, guardians, supervisors and coaches, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners, lessors, and lessees of premises used to conduct the event, all of whom are hereinafter referred to as "releasee", from any and all claims, demands, losses, or damages on account of injury, including permanent disability and death and damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the releasee or otherwise to the fullest extent permitted by law.
